Valve&Cylinder

Combustion chambers, fire boxes, heat transfer and fire science are all related.

Engines have a common construction shape, circles and cylinders.

Pistons, cylinders and valves, those are the ones that really stand out.

What if the engine valves were stuck open like 1/8 inch (3 mm)? Well, there would not be much pressure built up and there would be a constant flow in and out of the cylinder. Imagine also, a valve being round and parallel to the valve seat opening, the flow isn’t restricted on any one side of the valve.

The cylinder shape combustion chamber – the same shape for the heating appliance and engines. Round items take heat better, can make higher pressures and are stronger with less material compared   to a box/square shapes.
